Cleverly defined as “cross-pollinated gypsy music,” Fishtank Ensemble brings their unique blend of Romanian, Gypsy jazz, Flamenco, Balkan, Klezmer and Tango influenced song to 2nd Story.

Fishtank Ensemble formed in early 2005 after the arrival of Fabrice Martinez who, after 9 years of living and traveling through Europe in a mule drawn caravan collecting music,came to the US for the first time and met the future Fishtank Ensemble. Each member had their own unique musical specialty to share with the others, creating a unique sound that takes you on a wild ride and is mesmerizing good time!

In the past the band has performed with The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Juliette Lewis, Luminescent Orchestrii, Perry Farrell, Los Lobos and Donovan Leitch.

Fabrice Martinez – Violin & Violintromba:
Fabrice is a gifted fiddler whose musical roots are varied- more or less wherever his travels took. him. He has lived itinerantly in romani, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy and now the US.

Ursula Knudson – Saw, Voice, Violin, & banjolele:
Ursula is classically trained in voice and violin. Self-taught on the saw. She sings beautifully in Romanian, French, Japanese, and sometimes even in English, her native tongue.

Douglas Smolens – Guitar:
